DR. JONATHAN HINCHLIFFE

Cognisant Neuropsychology was founded by Dr Jonathan Hinchliffe in August 2020. Dr Hinchliffe now works full time for Cognisant Neuropsychology as the Clinical Director and Clinical Neuropsychologist. Prior to this, Dr Hinchliffe worked as the Lead Clinical Neuropsychologist at Kingston Hospital working predominantly on the acute stroke unit, and as a Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability.

Dr Hinchliffe completed his undergraduate Psychology degree at the University of Nottingham, a Master’s degree in Mental Health: Psychological Therapies (achieving Distinction) at Queen Mary University of London, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based interventions at University College London, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway University of London. Following completion of his doctorate, Dr Hinchliffe completed further specialist training in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol (PGDip; achieving Distinction) and further practical Clinical Neuropsychological Training at the University of Glasgow (PGCert; achieving Distinction).
Dr Hinchliffe is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, and is on the Specialist Register for Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN).

He has wide-ranging specialist experience in adult neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation in a multitude of settings including in acute, post-acute, transitional, community, and long-term care settings. Additionally he has worked in highly specialist services (including for those with challenging behaviour, disorders of consciousness, Huntington’s disease, individuals dependent on mechanical ventilation, and with children with neurodevelopmental conditions).

Dr Hinchliffe has an interest in medico-legal considerations post brain injury, and works as a treating clinician in medico-legal cases. He additionally worked as the Mental Capacity Act Manager for a large independent hospital. Dr Hinchliffe is a committee member on the Court of Protection Practitioners association.
Dr Hinchliffe if is passionate about educating and teaching other clinicians and has provided teaching on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In addition he has presented recent research at international conferences, and has contributed to psychological textbooks.
